Spokesperson for Bawumia Campaign Team Dennis Miracles Aboagye has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) at the Accra International Airport. According to reports Miracles was arrested on suspicion of corruption linked to his tenure as Executive Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCC) under the second term of the Akufo-Addo administration. It’s unclear whether Mr. Aboagye was on his way out of the country before his arrest. He had however earlier declared his intention to contest for the National Director of Communication position during the upcoming elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Private legal practitioner and a member of the NPP communications team Kwesi Botchway Jnr. Esq. confirmed the arrest in a post on social media linking it to the declaration.
