Abu Trica US Extradition: we’ve made mockery of the justice system- Oliver fumes.

Legal practitioner Oliver Barker-Vormawor has reacted to the extradition of his client Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, describing the development as a mockery of the justice system.

Abu Trica was reportedly extradited to the United States to face charges related to an alleged $8 million romance scam case.

According to sources, the Ghanaian national was flown out of the country on the morning of July 9, 2026, aboard Delta Airlines flight DL 157, ending months of legal battles over his transfer to face fraud charges in America.

His extradition follows a July 2 decision by the High Court in Accra ordering that he be surrendered to US authorities.

Abu Trica’s lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, had earlier disclosed that his client had reportedly been taken to the Police Hospital in Accra and raised concerns over his inability to access him before the extradition.

Abu Trica, who had been in custody since December 2025, had earlier secured bail from the Accra High Court in the sum of GH¢30 million with two justified sureties after spending several months in detention.

In court on Thursday, July 9, after reports of the extradition, lawyers for Kumi asked the High Court to order the state to explain the circumstances under which their client was allegedly extradited.

Following the extradition, Mr. Barker-Vormawor reacted on X, saying, “We have made a mockery of this justice system. We removed a Chief Justice in vain if we intended things to stay the same. Shalom.”
