Bawumia to support flood victim Kofi Osei by purchasing 100 cartons of his product through Sammi Awuku

The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come to the aid of businessman and flood victim Kofi Osei. Mr. Osei recently took to social media to share his ordeal of losing everything to the floods. The former vice President through the Akuapem North MP Sammi Awuku has purchased 100 cartons of Mackerel from the shop of Mr. Osei to assist in his recovery.

Osei shared on social media how he received an unexpected phone call from the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, who conveyed a personal message from Dr. Bawumia and informed him of the relief package.

He recounted his initial surprise when the caller identified himself.

“This morning, my phone rang. The voice on the other end said, ‘Hello, this is Sammi Awuku.’ I paused for a second, then I replied, ‘Paaaardon?'” he wrote.

He explained that Awuku later switched to Twi and formally introducing himself before delivering the message from the Dr. Bawumia.

“I have been instructed by my boss, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to first say sorry to you and your family for the losses you suffered. As part of his support, he has directed that we purchase 100 cartons of your mackerel to be included in the relief items for affected families.”

The donation, Osei noted, was intended not only to support his business after the flood but also to ensure that the food items reach other families affected by the disaster.

Describing the gesture as deeply touching, Osei said he struggled to contain his emotions after receiving the call.

“At that moment, I struggled to hold back my emotions. Today, I didn’t just receive a phone call. I felt seen. I felt valued,” he wrote.

He expressed profound appreciation to both Dr. Bawumia and Sammi Awuku, saying the act demonstrated compassionate leadership and genuine concern for party members and citizens facing hardship.

The former Vice President has, in recent months, continued to engage with individuals and communities affected by disasters across the country, with supporters describing such interventions as a reflection of his commitment to empathy and public service.

During his rounds to commiserate with the affected persons, Dr. Bawumia promised relief packages which he is seeing through.

Vice President of IMANI Africa Kofi Bentil on the back of what Dr. Bawumia has done has also ordered 100 cartons to be delivered to his church.
