Flooding in Central and Greater Accra Regions claims 30 lives- Interior Minister tells Parliament

Minister for Interior Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has disclosed a total of 30 lives have been lost to floods in the Greater Accra and Central Regions following heavy rains. Addressing parliament on the devastating floods, the minister stated 12 lives were lost in the Greater Accra region and 18 in the Central region.

Below is the detailed briefing the minister gave to parliament on Tuesday June 30, 2026:

Flash and Riverine Floods combined to inundate communities within the GAR following 13 hours of torrential rains. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of NADMO received over 1,200 distress calls which lead to shelter-in-place advisories, rescue and evacuation operations.  Ongoing assessments have established 38,802 displacements, 7 missing persons and 12 deaths.
