Consumers across the country will pay more for petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from today, Monday, June 1, 2026, following the latest fuel price adjustments announced under the National Petroleum Authority’s pricing framework.
The revised pricing outlook released by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) indicates that petrol prices will increase by 6.20 per cent, while LPG is expected to rise by 2.24 per cent. Diesel, however, is projected to record a marginal decline of about 2 per cent.
The upward adjustment in petrol and LPG prices has been attributed largely to increases in international refined petroleum product prices, while the slight reduction in diesel prices reflects softer global market trends and ongoing interventions within the downstream petroleum sector.
Under the new pricing regime, petrol will sell at a minimum pump price of GH¢15.20 per litre, LPG at GH¢13.48 per kilogram, and diesel at GH¢15.49 per litre.
The latest fuel price review comes amid growing concerns over the cost of transportation and living expenses. Public transport operators have already announced an increase in fares, citing rising operational costs, including fuel and spare parts.
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), together with the Commercial Transport Operators of Ghana, has confirmed a 20 per cent increase in transport fares effective Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Industry observers say the increase in petrol and LPG prices could further drive up transportation and logistics costs, with potential implications for inflation and household budgets in the weeks ahead.
Businesses that depend heavily on fuel-powered operations are also expected to feel the impact of the latest adjustments, particularly as the country continues efforts to manage the cost-of-living pressures facing consumers.
While the reduction in diesel prices may offer some relief to commercial transport operators and businesses that rely on diesel-powered equipment, analysts believe the gains could be outweighed by the increases in petrol and LPG, which affect a larger segment of consumers.
The new fuel prices take effect immediately across participating oil marketing companies nationwide.
