NAIMOS arrests two Chinese nationals in anti-galamsey raid at Amansie East

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested two Chinese nationals during a dawn raid targeting illegal mining activities along the Dankai River in the Amansie East District.

The suspects are accused of engaging in unauthorized mining and diverting the river. They are currently in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

This operation reflects intensified efforts by NAIMOS to combat illegal mining in the region. Earlier, on May 20, 2026, the task force apprehended four armed thugs involved in illegal mining at Dominase in the Western Region.

During that operation, the task force recovered weapons, ammunition, and mining equipment despite resistance from armed thugs who posed as security personnel at the mining site.

The four suspects were handed over to the Esiama District Police for further investigation and prosecution.

NAIMOS continues to lead aggressive actions against the environmental destruction caused by illegal mining activities in Ghana.
