Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 28-man squad to begin preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and an international friendly against Wales scheduled in Cardiff.
The squad consists of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards. The team opened camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, and commenced training at Dragon Park in Cardiff ahead of the friendly match on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Notable in the squad is the return of Greece-based defender Baba Abdul Rahman, who rejoins the team for the first time since September 2023. The former Chelsea left back has been in impressive form for PAOK this season, featuring in 35 matches and contributing three goals and three assists.

Also making a comeback is Olympique Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah, who returns to full fitness after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him sidelined for over a year.
Other key returnees include Abdul Mumin of Rayo Vallecano, Saint-Étienne midfielder Augustine Boakye, and Stade Rennes defender Alidu Seidu.
Young Ajax Amsterdam talent Paul Reverson, aged 20, has been called up for further assessment as part of the Black Stars’ long-term plans. Reverson has impressed with Ajax’s youth side in the Netherlands.
The squad will prepare in Cardiff before facing Wales in an international friendly. Following this, the Black Stars will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Ghana’s World Cup campaign kicks off with a Group L match against Panama in Toronto, followed by matches against England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
This squad selection sets the stage for Ghana’s renewed ambitions on football’s biggest stage.
