NPP Chairmanship Race: Former National Chairman, Freddy Blay backs Wontumi’s bid

Veteran politician and former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddy Blay has thrown his weight behind the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi in the race for the national chairmanship of the party.

The endorsement was formalized during a private strategic meeting hosted by Mr. Blay at his residence, where he received Chairman Wontumi and key members of his national campaign secretariat.

Blay described his decision to back Wontumi’s national chairmanship bid as “sincere,” assuring the team that he would stand by them “every step of the way” as the party prepares for its highly anticipated national internal elections.

Speaking during the interaction, Mr. Blay praised the caliber of personnel steering the Wontumi campaign machinery, characterizing them as a “solid team” capable of securing internal victory.

He noted that the political dynamics within the party currently favor Wontumi’s energetic and grassroots-oriented leadership style. “This is the time for Chairman Wontumi,” Blay declared during the meeting.

“This is his moment. He is the man of the moment.” Addressing the ongoing litigation and legal disputes currently surrounding the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Blay offered prayers and encouragement for the task ahead.

He urged Wontumi to find “strength, endurance, and perseverance” to successfully navigate the dual pressure of resolving court battles while maintaining momentum on the campaign trail.
