Claims Sam George has “blown” public funds false- Communication Ministry

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has refuted claims the sector minister, Samuel Nartey George, has “blown” public funds.

The ministry in a statement has clarified the document circulation online which has given rise to the allegations is only an “extract from a broader official submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures and based on budgetary allocations approved by Parliament foe the for the 2026 fiscal year”.

According to the ministry, the request “covers a range of planned projects, operational activities and programme interventions to be undertaken by the Ministry within the year under review,”.

The ministry further stressed that the said Commitment Authorisation request has not yet received approval from the Ministry of Finance, insisting that no funds have been released, disbursed, or spent in relation to the items contained in the document circulating on social media.

The MOCDTI in the statement categorically rejected claims that public funds had already been squandered describing such allegations as “inaccurate, misleading and devoid of context.”

The Ministry concluded in the statement with assurance it remains committed to transparency, accountability and strict adherence to all public financial management regulations in the execution of its mandate.
