The National Treasurer of the opposition New Patriotic Party Dr. Charles Dwamena popularly known as Dr. China has been involved in a road accident in Northern Ghana.
In a press release dated April 24, 2026, the Office of the National Treasurer disclosed that the incident occurred near Buipe Township while the Treasurer was traveling from Tamale to Kintampo as part of his Accounting to the People Tour.
According to the statement, the National Treasurer and members of his team escaped unharmed. However, the driver of another vehicle involved in the collision sustained injuries and was promptly rushed to the Central Gonja Government Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
“In view of this, the ongoing working visit of the National Treasurer will be suspended until further notice,” the statement said.
The Office further reassured party members and the general public that the Treasurer is in good condition and that there is no cause for alarm.
The party has expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the public and emphasized its commitment to keeping party members and the public informed at all times.
Dr. Charles Dwamena is seeking to lead the reorganization of the NPP is General Secretary heading into the 2028 elections after supervising the transformation of the finances and revenue mobilization of the party as Treasurer.
