Adu-Boahene trial: AG’s witness confirms purchase of the Cyber Defence System was a genuine special operations transaction

Attorney General’s witness in the ongoing trial of former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Edith Ruby Aduamoah has confirmed the purchase of the Cyber Defence System was a genuine special operations transaction. According to the Head of Finance for the NSB she personally processed the invoice and paid upon delivery and acceptance of the Cyber Defence System. This came to light during cross examination of the witness by lead counsel for Adu-Boahene, Samuel Atta Akyea.

Below are excerpts of proceedings in court today:

Atta Akyea: In your Exhibit A and B series, there is no duplicate invoice of $1,750,000 for a “25% first payment, signing of PW”, aside from invoice number NSC006 in Exhibit 11.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: No, my Lord, the invoice number with the same value is the same as the invoice number in Exhibit 30.

Atta Akyea: The descriptions in invoice number NSC006 and Exhibits 11 and 32 are separate and distinct.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes, my Lord.

Atta Akyea: In your testimony of 17th October 2025, at pages 13 and 14, you stated that you receive invoices for your boss (A1) for payment to ISC Holdings Limited.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes, my Lord.

Atta Akyea: And some of these invoices have been tendered in this court.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes, my Lord.

Atta Akyea: You processed these invoices for payment because they were genuine transactions.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes, my Lord.

Atta Akyea: Take a look at this Exhibit B4.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: 15% payment of delivery…. with a total sum of $1,50,000,…. which sum up to $1,750,000.

Atta Akyea: These invoices relate to the Cyber Defence System.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes, my Lord.

Atta Akyea: And the invoices were duly processed and paid for.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes.

Atta Akyea: That payment was effected contingent on delivery and acceptance of the Cyber Defence System.

Prosecution witness Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah: Yes.

Atta Akyea: You processed and effected these payments because the Cyber Defence System was delivered and accepted by the National Security.
