Ghana Police arrest Prophet William Gyimah over threats to Vice President

Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Police Service has arrested Prophet William Gyimah, General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, for allegedly issuing death threats against the Vice President, H.E. Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, in a viral video circulating on social media.

The 49-year-old suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, 7th April 2026, during a targeted operation at Kasoa in the Central Region by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) of the Police Service.

The arrest followed proactive monitoring of social media platforms, where a high-priority video featuring the suspect making threats was intercepted on TikTok and other networks.

Prophet Gyimah has been transferred to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations.

The Police Administration has cautioned the public and media outlets against using digital platforms to incite unrest or disseminate content that threatens national peace and security.

Authorities have assured that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
