Sachet water price hits GH¢15 per bag from April 6

The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers has announced a new price adjustment for sachet water, setting a maximum retail price of GH¢15 per bag effective Monday, April 6, 2026.

In a statement, the association explained that the increase has been driven by a global shortage of polymers, a key material used in packaging, as well as rising costs linked to international supply chain disruptions.

According to NASPAWAP, “the decision has become necessary due to a global shortage of polymers and a sharp rise in their prices,” adding that the situation has been worsened by ongoing tensions involving Iran, which have impacted production inputs.

Under the new pricing structure, the ex-factory price has been pegged at GH¢8 per bag of 500ml sachets, while the ex-truck price is set at GH¢10. Retailers are expected to sell at no more than GH¢15 per bag.

The association noted that the upward adjustment is intended to help producers stay afloat amid rising operational costs. “This review is aimed at sustaining production and ensuring continuous supply to the market,” the statement added.

NASPAWAP also urged retailers to comply strictly with the approved pricing to maintain fairness in the market, while appealing to consumers for understanding.

The new price is expected to take effect nationwide from April 6, 2026.
