Armed robbery falls by 5.1% as Interior Minister commends CID

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has praised the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for reducing violent crime, highlighting a 5.1% drop in armed robbery cases. During the CID WASSA 2025 celebration in Accra, he noted 1,142 incidents were recorded in the past year, with highway robberies falling from 312 to 228.

Mr Mohammed-Mubarak credited targeted security operations and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising the CID, including upgrades to fingerprint systems and investment in AI for criminal intelligence.

CID Director-General Lydia Yaako Donkor also lauded officers for their dedication, describing the event as a chance to reflect on achievements and strengthen departmental unity.
