Black Stars begin training for international friendlies as Inaki and Brandon Asante pull out

Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have officially begun preparations for their upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.

The team held their first training session at the Austria Football Federation campus, marking the start of their European training camp under head coach Otto Addo.

Out of the 26 players invited, 21 have reported to camp so far. Fourteen players arrived on Sunday, with the number increasing to 21 by Monday as more members of the squad joined up.

However, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Iñaki Williams have pulled out of the friendlies because of injury with 22-year-old Hamburger SV forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer called up to replace them.

Meanwhile, there was a special moment during training as Antoine Semenyo received a warm welcome from his teammates. The forward was honoured with a guard of honour after recently winning the Carabao Cup with Manchester City.

Newly invited players were also celebrated as they joined the squad for their first training session.

The Black Stars will continue preparations in Austria as they gear up for the two high-profile friendly matches in the coming days.

The Stars will face Austria in Vienna on the 27th of March before facing Germany on the 30th of March in Stuttgart.
