Ghana’s para athletics team has officially departed Accra to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Games GAP Training Camp and Competition, marking a key step in their preparations for the upcoming global event.
The team left the Accra International Airport on Sunday, March 22, 2026, under the supervision of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana.

Ghana will be represented by two seasoned Paralympians, Zinabu Issah and Botsyo Nkegbe, who are accompanied by their coaches, Emmanuel Anum Sowah and Patrick Yaw Obeng.
The athletes are set to take part in a high-performance training camp alongside an international competition, both of which form part of the Commonwealth GAPS Training Programme. The initiative is aimed at preparing elite athletes from across the Commonwealth for the 2026 Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place in Glasgow.

According to officials, the team’s participation has been made possible through continued collaboration between NPC Ghana and the Ghana Olympic Committee, a partnership that has been instrumental in creating international exposure opportunities for Ghanaian para athletes.
The training programme is expected to offer the athletes intensive preparation, including technical development, performance enhancement, and valuable competitive experience ahead of the Games.
Team Ghana is scheduled to return home on April 1, 2026, after completing the training camp and competition.
NPC Ghana has expressed confidence in the team, wishing both athletes and coaches a successful outing as they continue their journey toward the Commonwealth Games.
