4 Debutants earn Black Stars call-up as Andre Ayew misses out on Otto Addo’s squad for March international break

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has named three new players in his latest squad while excluding former captain Andre Ayew ahead of upcoming friendly matches against Austria and Germany.

First-time call-ups have been handed to defenders Marvin Senaya and Derrick Luckassen, Patrick Pfeiffer as well as forward Daniel Agyei. Their inclusion highlights a deliberate move to bring fresh options into the squad as preparations continue for future competitions.

While the introduction of new talent has drawn attention, the absence of Andre Ayew remains a major talking point, especially following recent public support for his return from notable figures within Ghanaian football.

The squad still retains a strong spine of experienced players, with Thomas Partey expected to play a key role in midfield. In attack, Ghana will rely on the firepower of Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Defensively, experienced names such as Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah are included, while the goalkeeping department features Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Benjamin Asare, and Joseph Anang.

The upcoming matches will offer Otto Addo an important opportunity to evaluate his squad as Ghana continues its build-up towards the 2026 World Cup.

The Black Stars will face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before facing Germany on Monday the 30th in Stuttgart.
