President John Dramani Mahama has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Administration by Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, in recognition of his contributions to national transformation, economic development, and democratic governance.
The honour was part of President Mahama’s official engagements in South Korea and was announced by the Ghana Presidency following the ceremony. Yonsei University highlighted his leadership in public service, his role in strengthening democratic institutions in Ghana, and his commitment to policies promoting economic growth and good governance.
Receiving the award, President Mahama noted that it symbolized the strong relationship between Ghana and South Korea, saying, “I accept this honour on behalf of all the people of Ghana as a symbol of deep respect and mutual admiration that exists between our two countries.” He also expressed appreciation to the university community and highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two nations in areas such as development, technology, and education.
In a warm moment, President Mahama addressed the gathering briefly in Korean, which was met with enthusiastic applause. He emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expressed hope that the friendship between Ghana and South Korea continues to grow deeper and stronger.
The honorary doctorate adds to a growing list of international recognitions for the Ghanaian leader and reflects the expanding diplomatic engagement between Ghana and South Korea.
