Police Intercept Over 300 Drums of Suspected Stolen ECG Cables at Kpone

Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have intercepted more than 300 drums of suspected stolen service cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana at a facility linked to Sentuo Resources Limited in the Kpone Industrial Area.

The operation followed intelligence gathered by officers from the Ghana Police Service, which led investigators to the premises on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

According to preliminary investigations, the officers discovered more than 300 drums of brand-new ECG service cables that were suspected to have been stolen. Some of the cables had reportedly been cut into pieces and melted down to produce another metal product intended for export to China.

Police said further examination of the scene suggested that the melted cables were being recycled into raw materials that could later be used to manufacture new cables, potentially to be sold back to the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Investigators also found additional quantities of the cables already cut into smaller pieces and remoulded into another form, believed to be ready for export.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the cables and the individuals involved in the suspected theft and processing operation.
