Premiere League: Arsenal Slip at The Molineux as Title Race Takes a New Twist

Arsenal went into their game against Wolverhampton Wanderers away at the Molineux Stadium with the main intention of extending their lead at the summit of the league tree, however their intentions hit the road block as Wolves put the breaks on the Gunners by striking twice to deny Mikel Arteta and his cavalry the win.

Poster boy Bukayo Saka brought an end to his 15 game goal drought by sending home a sweet header into the twine in the 15th minute from Declan Rice’s cross in the fifth minute to put the Gunners up by goal.

Ecuadorian enterprising left back Piero Hincapié was on hand to double Arsenal’s advantage after the half time break as the Gunners looked firmly in control of affairs at the Molineux.

Little did Mikel Arteta know that Wolverhampton were going to flip the script, and in the turn of events the game quickly switched towards the side of Wolves who halfed the deficit in the 61st minute through Hugo Bueno who scored an absolute screamer of a curling strike from distance on 61minutes to make the scoreline 2-1 thereby forcing a nervy and uncomfortable finale on the night.

Deep into regulation time,Tom Edozie fired home which ricocheted off Ricardo Calafiori and found its way into the net to tie the scoreline at 2-2 and giving Arsenal a major heartbreak as they surrendered a two goal lead in a game they had in their palm.

After last night’s 2-2 draw at the Molineux Stadium Arsenal keep hold on to first place in the league standings of 58 points, which is now five points ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand to clear.

This result seems to be a bump on the road for the Gunners whose confidence and character showing for the league title this season has been questioned as the pressure keeps on mounting.

At this juncture the biggest scare is mental fortitude with the last lap of games set to be a deciding factor for Arsenal as they look to end their 22 year wait for domestic glory after spending money on summer signings.
