Police Intercept Truck Carrying Large Marijuana Shipment at Dambai

Authorities in the Oti Region have uncovered what police believe to be a major drug trafficking attempt during a routine checkpoint operation.

A long trailer truck marked “Tom Winter” and registered GW 1943-09 was stopped at the Dambai police barrier for screening. Officers became suspicious during questioning of the driver and his assistant. A search revealed parcels of dry leaves believed to be marijuana, hidden beneath empty containers inside the truck.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled, while his assistant was arrested and is assisting police with investigations. The truck has been impounded at the checkpoint as authorities work to trace the fleeing suspect and determine the origin and destination of the drugs.

The Ghana Police Service says investigations are ongoing, highlighting its commitment to combating drug trafficking and organised crime.
