The Minister of State in charge of the Ashanti Region, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has expressed condolences to the family of a man who died following a clash between suspected illegal miners and the Ghana Police Service at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District.
In a public statement, Dr Amoakohene sympathised with those injured and wished them a speedy recovery. He urged citizens to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies and to comply with lawful orders, cautioning against confronting the police or engaging in actions that threaten public safety.
He commended the Ghana Police Service for its continued efforts to maintain law and order and reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the discharge of their duties.
The minister said investigations into the incident are ongoing and assured the public that the matter will be pursued to its logical conclusion. He also appealed to community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders to help restore calm in the area.
