Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has sworn in fifty-two new Circuit Court judges, made up of 40 magistrates and 12 lawyers, at a brief ceremony held in Accra.

Describing the occasion as a significant milestone in their lives, the Chief Justice urged the newly appointed judges to “avoid situations that compromise your impartiality.”
He noted that their elevation comes with greater responsibility and stressed that they must discharge their duties without fear or favour.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie said their promotion is a demonstration of their dedication, hard work, and patience over the years.

According to him, the decision to accept the appointments will have an impact on their personal lives, families, and businesses. He therefore admonished them to perform their duties judiciously, transparently, and strictly in accordance with the law.
The Chief Justice further reminded the judges to work with integrity, demonstrate competence, and ensure fairness in the discharge of their duties, adding that their judgments must be clear and legally well-reasoned.

The President of the Ghana Bar Association also emphasised the importance of upholding the sanctity of the judiciary and remaining free from undue interference. She assured the judges of the Bar’s support as they transition into their new roles.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, His Worship Kofi Owusu Sekyere, the senior-most among the judges sworn in, expressed gratitude to the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council for the opportunity to serve the people of Ghana.
