Legal Showdown: Shatta Wale Sues Blakk Rasta for GH¢100 Million Over ‘Defamatory’ Claims

Dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale has initiated a GH¢100 million defamation suit against broadcaster Blakk Rasta. The lawsuit, filed on January 8, 2026, by the Robert Smith Law Group, centers on a December 2025 video titled

“SHATTA WALE, SELF-CONFESSED KING OF FRAUD.”
The writ alleges that Blakk Rasta falsely labeled the musician a fraudster who launders stolen money.

Legal documents highlight a specific claim where the defendant equated Shatta Wale to a thief by association. Blakk Rasta further labeled Shatta Wale “king of fraud” and a collaborator with criminals.

Shatta’s legal team argues these “malicious” statements have caused significant distress and reputational harm, citing the video’s rapid viral spread across Facebook and YouTube. The plaintiff is seeking removal of the video from social media, a formal apology in national newspapers and a permanent injunction against the content.

Blakk Rasta has not yet commented on the legal action.
