Suspension on Gabon National Team Lifted

The suspension placed on the Gabon national football team has been lifted, bringing an end to the ban that also affected star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and team captain Bruno Ecuele Manga.

The sanctions were imposed following Gabon’s poor performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the team lost all three Group F matches against Cameroon, Mozambique and Ivory Coast.

Gabon’s Sports Minister, Paul Ulrich Kessany, has overturned the government’s earlier measures and directed the Gabonese Football Association (FEGAFOOT) to develop a comprehensive plan for appointing a new technical team. He emphasized the need to refocus preparations ahead of key timelines, including the AFCON 2027 draw and qualification campaign.

With the suspension lifted, the national team can now resume full activities, while Aubameyang and Ecuele Manga have been reinstated. FEGAFOOT has welcomed the decision and says it will comply with the minister’s directive to put a new coaching structure in place ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
