Xabi Alonso Leaves Real Madrid After Seven Months as Head Coach

Xabi Alonso’s tenure as Real Madrid head coach has ended just seven months after his appointment. The club announced his departure following a 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.

A former Real Madrid legend, Alonso had previously enjoyed success at Bayer Leverkusen, leading them to an unbeaten Bundesliga title and German Cup victory. However, his time at Madrid was marked by inconsistency and criticism over tactical approach, particularly in high-pressure games.

Reports suggest internal conflicts with key players such as Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe may have influenced the decision.

Alvaro Arbeloa, former Real Madrid defender and Castilla coach, has been named interim head coach and will lead the team in their upcoming Copa del Rey match against Albacete.
