The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) says it has successfully contained a commercial fire at the Sefwi Juaboso Market near Frankrab Cold Store in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
The fire, reported at 3:07 a.m., destroyed the contents of four wooden shops and one metal container store.
Despite a malfunctioning fire engine, firefighters from the Sefwi Juaboso Fire Station arrived promptly at 3:12 a.m. Equipped with portable extinguishers and with assistance from members of the public, they brought the fire under control by 4:33 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 5:02 a.m.
According to the GNFS, preliminary investigations indicate the fire was caused by an electrical fault. No casualties were recorded.
The District Fire Officer, DO II Emmanuel Miah, was present at the scene to provide operational support.
