Chelsea Appoint Liam Rosenior as New Head Coach on Six-and-a-Half-Year Deal

Chelsea have announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, signing him to a six-and-a-half-year contract. Rosenior, 41, joins from fellow Blue Co club Strasbourg, where he has been head coach since July 2024.

During his tenure at Strasbourg, Rosenior led the French side to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 last season. He departs following a 1-1 draw at Nice, marking Strasbourg’s fifth league game without a win. The club currently sits seventh in the league table but tops the Conference League group.

Despite his relative inexperience at the highest level, Rosenior expressed confidence and excitement about his new role. In his first interview as Chelsea coach, he said, “Being Chelsea coach is an unbelievable opportunity at an incredible club, the world champions. I can go home, see my kids, sign for a magnificent club. I can’t turn down this opportunity. These 18 months at Strasbourg have been my best time.”

Liam Rosenior is the son of football coach and pundit Leroy Rosenior.
