The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced a ban on the sale, purchase, and use of firecrackers throughout the festive season to ensure public safety. In a statement released on December 24, REGSEC revealed plans to increase security patrols across the region, deploying both police and military personnel.
Following a meeting on December 18, the council emphasized that the enhanced security presence aims to protect lives and property during the busy Christmas and New Year period, which is typically marked by large gatherings and increased travel.
Additionally, REGSEC declared that motorbikes lacking registration numbers or functional lights will be prohibited from using the roads during this period.
