Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has sworn in the new National Sports Authority (NSA) Governing Board, led by Chairman Dr Fred Awaah. The 15-member board includes Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Bawa Fuseini, Samuel Duku Sarfo, Nana Adwoa Owusu-Amoh, Is-Haku Al-Hassan, Dr Luguterah Austin Wontepaga, Samson Deen, and Richard Akpokavie.
The Sector Minister charged the board to drive reforms and performance-driven leadership in Ghana’s sports sector, prioritising infrastructure, athlete welfare, grassroots development, and private investment. He emphasised updating the 2016 Sports Act and creating a National Sports Policy.
The board’s tasks include managing sports facilities, promoting participation, and supporting athletes globally. Chairman Dr Awaah vowed to make sports contribute to economic growth, focusing on job creation, revenue generation, and infrastructure development.
Board member Samson Deen welcomed his reappointment, urging corporate Ghana to partner with the government to enhance the impact of sports on national unity and economic growth.
