Ghana’s Black Galaxies fell to a 1-0 defeat against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a friendly match at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto today, December 15, 2025. The lone goal came in the 57th minute, courtesy of Sipho Mbule, who capitalized on a gap at the edge of the box and coolly scored to give South Africa the lead.
Ghana pushed hard for an equalizer in the latter stages of the match but couldn’t break through, with Rudolf Mensah’s effort hitting the post. The match served as valuable preparation for both teams, with Ghana gearing up for the upcoming CHAN qualifiers and South Africa fine-tuning their squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey’s Black Galaxies had touched down in South Africa on December 14, holding a final training session at the Dobsonville Stadium ahead of the match. South Africa’s head coach, Hugo Broos, acknowledged the friendly’s limited challenge, given Ghana’s non-optimal lineup, but welcomed the contest as a useful test for his team.
