The Ghana Black Galaxies suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a friendly match held at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto today, December 15, 2025. The only goal of the game came in the 57th minute when Sipho Mbule capitalized on a defensive lapse at the edge of the box and calmly slotted the ball home to give South Africa the lead.

Despite Ghana’s determined push for an equalizer in the closing stages, they were unable to breach the South African defense. A notable chance fell to Rudolf Mensah, whose shot struck the post. The match provided valuable preparation for both sides, with Ghana focusing on the upcoming CHAN qualifiers while South Africa fine-tunes its squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey’s Black Galaxies arrived in South Africa on December 14 and held a final training session at Dobsonville Stadium before the match. South Africa’s head coach, Hugo Broos, acknowledged the limited challenge posed by Ghana’s less-than-optimal lineup but welcomed the match as a useful test for his team.
