Accra — Mohammed Tawfik, a Political Communications Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, has sharply criticized former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo’s recent comments as selfish and lacking foresight.
Ms. Safo, speaking to some delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urged them to dismiss claims that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was responsible for economic mismanagement under the party’s administration. “Was Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a Finance Minister? We ruined everything ourselves. We turned a deaf ear to Ghanaians.”
However, she has since faced criticism for insinuating that her political career might not thrive under presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong. “I have two kids with Kennedy Agyapong. Assuming he became president, would he pick me with whom he has two kids, despite a great C.V? Ghana would descend into chaos if he did. ”
Responding to these developments on the Morning Starr with host Naa Dedei Tettey, Mr. Tawfik said,
“Some of the claims Adwoa Safo made cannot stand the test of time. Adwoa Safo cannot entirely say that because she babies with Ken, she will be sidelined should he become presidential candidate. To say that Kennedy Agyapong will not favour family and friends is a fantastic attribute. We should not be making such selfish personal interest rhetoric.”
Mr. Tawfik further stressed the importance of presenting Dr. Bawumia positively to strengthen the NPP’s communications strategy as the party navigates internal dynamics ahead of elections.
