Nyamebekyere: Fire Service Rescues 16 as Two Vehicles Collide Head-on

The swift intervention of firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station has saved the lives of 16 people after a head-on collision involving a Ford Transit (AS 7172-23) and a Kia Rhino (AS 3058-X) at Nyamebekyere on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway.

According a statement from Ghana National Fire Service an eight-member rescue team led by STNO II Simon Yeboah extricated and transported all sixteen occupants, fourteen (14) from the Ford Transit and two (2) from the Kia Rhino, to the Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center after the accident.

Even though the victims suffered varying degrees of injuries, no fatalities were recorded. Both vehicles, however, sustained extensive damage. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
