The Chamber of Construction Industries has formally written to the Minister for Roads and Highways, pressing for the urgent payment of road contractors for work already completed. In a statement signed by Emmanuel Cherry, CEO of the Chamber, the organization expressed deep concern over delayed settlement of Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), which has placed significant financial strain on its members.
Despite assurances from President John Mahama that outstanding payments would be cleared before the end of July 2025, these commitments remain unmet. According to the Chamber, “prolonged delay in effecting payments is inflicting severe financial hardship. Contractors are unable to meet payroll and operational costs.”
The Chamber is calling on the government to “release payment for all outstanding IPCs” and to “establish a transparent and time-bound payment schedule for future IPCs” to ensure timely settlements moving forward.
