School Feeding: Gov’t commences settlement of third-term arrears

THE Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, has announced the commencement of payment of arrears owed to caterers for the third term of the 2025 academic year.

According to a statement signed by Siiba Alfa, Director of Public Relations at the GSFP, the payment covers 56 school feeding days and comes after a successful validation and processing of all necessary data.

The release also noted that the arrears are being paid at the new approved rate of GH¢2.00 per pupil per day, as promised by the Government.

“We commend the Government and all relevant stakeholders for honouring this commitment,” the statement said, adding that the GSFP deeply appreciates the dedication, patience, and hard work of the caterers who play a critical role in feeding school children across the country.

This payment is part of efforts to ensure the smooth running of the school feeding programme, which provides daily hot meals to thousands of pupils in public basic schools nationwide.

The GSFP has assured the public of its continued commitment to transparency and timely payment, as it works with the Government to strengthen the programme and improve nutrition and attendance in schools.
