Safeguard Ghana’s Territorial Integrity- Veep Urges Navy

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has called on the Ghana Navy to continue safeguarding Ghana’s territorial borders as the preservation of Ghana’s sovereignty is incomplete without maritime security.

Speaking during the 2025 Ghana Navy Memorial Day Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang lauded the sacrifices of the Ghana Navy and reaffirmed government commitment to equipping the Navy to withstand terrorism.

The Ghana Navy Memorial Day is observed annually on 14th September to honour the gallant personnel who sacrificed their lives in service to the Ghana Navy.

This solemn occasion offers a moment to reflect on the
Navy’s enduring legacy in safeguarding Ghana’s maritime sovereignty and contribution to regional and international peace and security.

This year’s celebration is particularly significant as it marks the 35th year since the bombing of GNS YOGAGA in Liberia during
ECOMOG operations, and the 11th year since the Memorial Day was
instituted.

In commemoration of these milestones, the 2025 celebration spans 4 days of activities aimed at preserving the Navy’s history, inspiring patriotism and paying solemn tribute to our fallen heroes.
