NPP Youth Wing to protest on Sept 23 over “police intimidation” of members

The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a street protest on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to challenge what it calls a deliberate campaign of police intimidation against opposition figures.

The demonstration will begin at the Obra Spot in Accra at dawn and proceed to the Police Headquarters, where the youth intend to present a petition to the Inspector General of Police.

Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha confirmed the action in a social media post, insisting the police have turned into a tool of harassment under the current administration.

“Tuesday, 23rd September, the National Youth Wing will organise a demo against the state-sponsored police harassment. From Obra Spot to police headquarters. 6 a.m. sharp!,” he declared.

The move follows the continued detention of Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), who has been remanded into custody over charges of offensive conduct and publication of false news.

His arrest and trial have triggered outrage within the NPP, with party activists accusing the police of selectively targeting opposition leaders.

According to the Youth Wing, the September 23 protest is only the beginning of a series of nationwide actions intended to resist what they describe as a creeping culture of fear.

Party insiders say the demonstration will draw supporters from across the country to send a strong message that the opposition will not be silenced.
