“Statistics of my wins and losses are of no use, not afraid of being sacked”- Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has dismissed criticisms his performance since his return as gaffer for the senior national team. According to Otto Addo he is unfazed by the possibility of being sacked as Ghana prepares for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali in Accra.

Since his second return, Addo’s record has drawn scrutiny and criticism from all quarters. In 15 matches, his side has managed five wins, five draws, and five defeats, scoring 27 goals, conceding 18, and keeping just four clean sheets.

But the 49-year-old maintains that the statistics do not tell the full story of Ghana’s progress in the qualifiers.

“These statistics of my wins and losses are of no use. I’m not afraid of anything, not even getting sacked. We are still on top of Group I, so nothing has changed,” he told the media.

Addo further stressed the importance of approaching every match with the right mentality. “Game by game, there will be no underrating of any team,” he said, warning against complacency.

Monday’s showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium is expected to be one of the defining fixtures of Group I, with Ghana leading the table on 16 points, just one ahead of Comoros, and Mali sitting third with 12 points.

Addo’s defiance underlines his focus on results over outside criticism, as the Black Stars aim to take another big step toward their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
