2026 Primaries: Campaign with respect, not insults – Sammi Awuku to aspirants

Akuapem North legislator, Sammi Awuku, has appealed to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to uphold decorum as the party prepares for its 2026 presidential primaries.

Awuku, who has long been associated with youth mobilization within the NPP, urged supporters to avoid insults and antagonism, warning that acrimony could undermine the unity needed for victory in 2028.

“The Journey won’t be easy but I am confident it shall end in praise. Let the campaign be civil and decent. Let’s extol the values and virtues of our preferred candidate and let the campaign be devoid of acrimony, antagonism and insults for the sake of the NPP’s future,” he cautioned in a Facebook post on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

He emphasized that promoting the strengths of aspirants is a better path than tearing opponents down, adding that unity remains the party’s greatest asset.

The lawmaker also expressed confidence in the NPP’s chances in the next general elections while invoking divine guidance. “May God guide us all to victory in 2028,” he wrote.

His call comes as the NPP officially clears five aspirants to contest the 2026 primaries: Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

The confirmation sets the stage for a heated but decisive internal contest to select the party’s flagbearer.
