Military Helicopter crashes in Ashanti Region

A military helicopter believed to be carrying eight individuals has reportedly crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, with preliminary reports indicating that some passengers may have sustained injuries. Details remain limited as rescue operations continue at the scene.

In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the GAF General Headquarters in Accra, the military confirmed that a Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter went missing after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m. en route to Obuasi. The aircraft lost contact with radar shortly after departure.

According to the statement, there were eight people on board the helicopter — three crew members and five passengers.

“All efforts are being made to establish contact,” the release stated, adding that further updates will be communicated as investigations progress.

The Ghana Armed Forces and other relevant agencies have been deployed to the area and are expected to provide official updates once more information becomes available.

The cause of the suspected crash remains unknown at this time.
