President Mahama has revealed that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Dr. Dominic Ayine has uncovered evidence to against some appointees of the Nana Addo administration. According to the President the evidence is related to findings of the report of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee. President Mahama has disclosed the Attorney-General is building 33 cases of corruption and related offences against the former government appointees.
The ORAL facts finding team was tasked with gathering information on suspected corruption, particularly under the previous administration, and forwarding it to the appropriate state institutions for action.
The five-member team, which was chaired by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, included former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, retired Police Commissioner Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Raymond Archer.
After completing its work, the ORAL team submitted its findings to the Office of the Attorney-General for further investigation and potential prosecution.
Speaking during a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House, President Mahama revealed prosecutions on some of the 33 cases would soon begin.
“those who served in the previous regime, many cases of which we are currently investigating, we set up the Oral Committee, it identified 33 cases, and it was handed over to the Attorney General and he has created special investigation teams to investigate each of them.”
“Some of them they have found a lot of evidence of, you know, procurement of properties, you know, with illicit wealth and all that. And so with many of them, they are just at the point of beginning prosecutions, with some they have started the prosecutions, and others are being lined up for prosecution,” The President stated.
The Attorney-General is currently prosecuting some officials of the Nana Addo administration in the National Signals Bureau and Sky train cases
