Dr. Bryan Acheampong forms Exploratory Committee for NPP flagbearership bid

Former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has officially announced the formation of an exploratory committee for a potential bid for the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the move follows a period of ‘deep reflection’ and extensive consultations with family, party grassroots, and supporters nationwide, as detailed in a statement addressed to “Patriots and Beloved Ghanaians.

Dr. Acheampong stressed that the NPP stands at a “pivotal juncture,” necessitating “unity” and “a renewed commitment to our core values.” His newly established committee is tasked with engaging key stakeholders, assessing the alignment of his vision with the aspirations of the Ghanaian populace, and is expected to deliver its findings within a four-week timeframe.

He outlined core priorities that would underpin his vision, should he formally enter the leadership race. These include critical areas such as job creation, ensuring robust food security, fostering youth and infrastructure development, bolstering national security, and upholding good governance. He emphasized that the dedicated committee shares his commitment to these development goals, alongside “discipline and unity within the Party.”

Bryan Acheampong highlighted his “lifelong and deeply personal” involvement in the NPP, tracing his journey from a grassroots organizer to a four-term MP, Cabinet Minister, party financier, and an active member of numerous party and parliamentary committees. He asserted that these diverse roles have afforded him “invaluable insights into the sacrifices, dedication, and strategic vision required to build and sustain the foundations of our Party.”

He expressed profound confidence in the NPP’s future, stating his firm belief “in the Party’s capacity to overcome its challenges and once again lead Ghana towards a brighter future.

He concluded his message with an earnest plea for unity, discipline, and unwavering faith in the Party’s shared mission: “May we remain steadfast in spirit and decorous in conduct in the pursuit of progress, inclusivity, and effective leadership for Ghana. May God be our helper,” he stated.
