Trump Counter-Terrorism chief quits over Iran war, blames Israel

Director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, has resigned in protest over the ongoing conflict involving Iran, citing strong disagreement with the decision to go to war.

In his resignation letter, Kent stated, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” adding that “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation.”

He further alleged external influence in the decision-making process, claiming, “It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

Kent, a supporter of Donald Trump, also accused pro-war actors of misleading the administration. “This was a lie… used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat,” he wrote.

Responding to the resignation, President Trump dismissed Kent’s stance, saying, “Iran was a threat… when someone says they didn’t think Iran was a threat, we don’t want those people.”

Kent’s departure marks a significant development within the administration amid growing tensions over US involvement in the Iran conflict.
