Doha, Qatar – The Ghanaian government has launched an emergency evacuation for its citizens residing in Qatar, following growing security concerns in the Middle East, the Embassy of Ghana in Doha announced on Sunday.
In a notice dated March 15, 2026, the embassy instructed all Ghanaians wishing to return home to submit the biodata pages of their passports via email by Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Officials emphasized that the evacuation is a one-way arrangement from Qatar to Ghana.
The announcement follows an earlier advisory issued on March 6, 2026, alerting the Ghanaian community to the deteriorating security situation in the region. The latest directive escalates those warnings into immediate action.
“We refer to our earlier notice dated 6th March, 2026 and inform all Ghanaians living in Qatar that the Government of the Republic of Ghana has decided to undertake an emergency evacuation exercise in Qatar in the wake of heightened regional security concerns,” the statement read.
The embassy directed interested evacuees to send their passport biodata pages to doha@mfa.gov.gh
without delay. The notice, marked with triple “FLASH” warnings, underscores the urgency of the operation.
Tensions in the region have intensified in recent weeks due to ongoing conflicts involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, prompting multiple countries to review contingency plans for their citizens abroad.
The evacuation poses logistical challenges, as many Ghanaians reside and work in Qatar, particularly in infrastructure and services sectors. While the embassy has not disclosed the scale of the operation or the flight schedule, the tight registration deadline suggests swift coordination with aviation and immigration authorities.
Ghanaians in Qatar are urged to maintain close contact with the embassy and monitor official channels for updates as the situation develops.
