Abura Dunkwa Gyasehene Destooled over Alleged Affair with Fetish Priestess

The Odompem Adwenadze Royal Family of Abura Dunkwa in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District, Central Region, has officially destooled Nana Obo Kwefuah IV as Gyasehene following allegations of misconduct, including a romantic involvement with the community’s fetish priestess and manipulation of stool land documents.

Abusuapanyin Kwame Essoun, head of the royal family, led the destoolment rites and explained that the Gyasehene had repeatedly refused to perform required traditional duties during festivals. “He has, for some period now, refused to perform the necessary rites and rituals required of him by the family during festival. Aside from that, he is in a marital affair with a fetish priestess which doesn’t align with our traditions,” he said.

The Abusuapanyin further alleged that Nana Obo Kwefuah IV had changed the title of the family head into his own name, a move he initially denied. To cover up his alleged misconduct, the Gyasehene reportedly made false accusations against the Abusuapanyin, claims which remain unproven.

Obaapanyin Aba Appiawa, a member of the royal family, supported the decision, noting that the Gyasehene failed to respond to multiple invitations from the family over the last five months. “We invited him several times, but he didn’t come, and so I support the family’s decision for his destoolment,” she said.

Efforts to reach Nana Obo Kwefuah IV for his comments were unsuccessful as of publication.

The royal family has urged the public to no longer recognize Nana Obo Kwefuah IV as the Gyasehene of Abura Dunkwa.
