Hohoe United beat Kotoko 1-0 to go 9th on GPL table

Hohoe United ascend to 9th place in the league standings on 17 points following a surprising 1-0 win over Asante Kotoko at the Hohoe Sports Stadium today making it two wins on the bounce.

William Oduro made sure that the three points stay in Hohoe as he scored an eclipsing goal from a freekick situation in the 24th minute outside Kotoko’s goal area to stun Mohammed Camara, whose positioning left much to be desired.

The hosts made their intentions known as skipper Safian Usman made a darting run into the 18 yard zone before driving a shot across the face of goal after five minutes.

The second stanza of the game saw the Porcupine Warriors lifting their tempo after a slow start in the first half, and against the run of play Hubert Gyau was at the center of Kotoko’s attacking threats s he saw his final third efforts going wide.

Joseph Amoah joined in on the action as be stung and tested the gloves of Hohoe United goalie Kweku Musah who was equal to the task.

During the course of the match there were loud shouts for a handball after Adam Inusah’s strike was prevented via a block by Solomon Adomako, however replays indicated that the ball struck Solomon’s shoulder.

Today’s loss for Kotoko means they return to the Garden City with empty hands as they’re now without a victory in their last 4 games and occupy fifth place on 21 points.

The Porcupine Warriors will stay at home in week 14 and welcome Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, while Hohoe United make the journey to the Golden City Park to face Berekum Chelsea in a week 14 encounter.
