The Airport Divisional Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Accra has swooped in to arrest two nannies accused of a disturbing betrayal of trust—drugging and abusing their employer’s two-year-old twin boys in East Legon.
Francisca Boakye, 30, a student nurse from Konongo in the Ashanti Region, and Harriet Ansah, 31, from Jasikan in the Oti Region, are accused of secretly administering a sleep-inducing drug suspected to be “Dynewell” to the toddlers—without their mother’s knowledge or consent.
Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, revealed the grim discovery came after a 41-year-old businesswoman noticed her children becoming unusually drowsy and exhibiting strange behavior in September 2025.
Under police investigation, Harriet Ansah confessed to mixing the drug into the children’s food, claiming she learned the grim practice from Francisca Boakye. Shockingly, Ansah also admitted to cruel abuse, including burning the toddlers’ hands with fire and calling them degrading names like “chimpanzee.”
Both nannies had been employed by the family for over eight months before their dark secrets came to light. A search of their quarters uncovered two used and four unused trays of suspicious sachets, now seized for forensic analysis.
The accused have been formally charged and remanded in custody, with a court hearing set for October 20, 2025.
The Accra Regional Police Command has condemned these inhumane acts and is urging all parents and guardians to remain vigilant in supervising domestic staff. As this unsettling case unfolds, further updates will be provided.
