GoldBod facing opposition from ‘very powerful movement’ – Duncan-Williams

Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has warned that the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) is facing opposition from what he describes as a “very powerful movement.”

He says the group comprises influential individuals with deep knowledge of Ghana’s gold trade who are resisting efforts to regulate the sector and enforce the law.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, August 16, Archbishop Duncan-Williams urged Ghanaians to pray for GoldBod and the country, stressing the need to protect Ghana’s natural resources.

He expressed concern that some individuals who previously accessed gold through illegal channels are now seeking alternative avenues to operate through the GoldBod system.

The Archbishop also linked the challenge to the broader fight against illegal mining, warning that political considerations must not be allowed to undermine enforcement of the law.

He cautioned that continued illegal mining and the destruction of water bodies and farmlands could have serious consequences for future generations.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams therefore called on the church to intensify prayers and intercession for Ghana, particularly over the management of the country’s natural resources.
