Sam George provides relief to over 5k residents displaced by floods in Ningo-Prampram

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has provided emergency relief to over 5,000 residents displaced by the devastating June 29 floods that ravaged parts of the constituency.

The relief intervention targeted some of the hardest-hit communities, including Amarnokope, Ahwiam, Old Ningo, Afienya and Lekpongunor, where hundreds of families lost their homes, personal belongings and livelihoods.

The exercise, undertaken on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, June 12, 2026, saw the distribution of essential food and household items to affected families in an effort to ease their immediate hardships.

The relief packages included more than 800 bags of 25-kilogram rice, mattresses, over 250 cartons of cooking oil, boxes of canned tomatoes, cartons of sugar, Milo, milk, tinned goods and other essential food supplies.

The distribution was carried out in collaboration with the Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, Raphael Uriel Nartey; the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Issah Adamu Vanguard; constituency executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC); and NADMO officials.

Addressing beneficiaries, Mr George expressed his deepest sympathies to families affected by the floods, assuring them that they would not be left to bear the burden of the disaster alone.

He said the intervention formed part of efforts to provide immediate relief while longer-term measures were pursued to reduce the risk of future flooding in the constituency.

“The suffering of our people cannot be ignored. We will continue to stand with every family affected and work together to rebuild our communities,” he said.
